J-Cut Shirt

The J-Cut Shirt is a unique intersection of inspirations.

For Dapperwear, we delved into the evolution of style over the past few decades. War, material shortage and surplus, and the desire for practicality all played their role in the evolution of societal dress. Nowadays, clothing is in our face non-stop with reels, ads, and fast fashion.

Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time a little, taking elements of classic menswear and giving it a modern silhouette? We think so, and for this reason, we chose a fabric pattern worn for decades by both men and women alike - plaid. It melds classy with casual; as suitable for a family dinner as it is for an autumn morning walk up to your favourite cafe. 

The shirt features a soft, cotton-poly blend flannel fabric, cream contrast stitching throughout, speckled buttons, a single chest pocket and a Dapperwear neck label complete with metallic gold details. We recommend using the shirt as a layer for the cooler months, or wearing it alone or over a tee in the warmer ones. 

Why 'J-Cut'?

When designing this new silhouette, we wanted to elongate the sleeves a bit and keep the back length relatively short in reference to Japanese-style shirting.
